Program History

The U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration established equitable and minimum service level standards for migrant and seasonal farmworkers.

Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity assists Local Workforce Development Boards in operating an outreach and employment program for migrant and seasonal farmworkers in accordance with 20 CFR 653. Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker outreach workers conduct outreach activities all year throughout the state.

Career center staff and partners educate Florida farmworkers about available services. The State Monitor Advocate conducts on-site quality assurance visits to career centers to ensure the provision of an equitable level of services to the farmworker community.
